my new album comin out next week!!!!! Found Objects
Each of these songs were constructed completely from sounds I recorded from single objects (hence the titles). The workflow went something like this: First, I took the objects and recorded myself making as many different sounds with them as possible for about 10 or 15 minutes. From that recording I cut small samples of the different sounds. Then I organized them into groups; the sounds I would use for melodies and the ones I would use for percussion. Some songs, like Pots and Pans, used as many as 80 different samples throughout the song, while others, like Banjo, used only 9. Once I had the samples chopped and organized, I brought them into FL Studio (midi composing and sequencing software) where I wrote and arranged the songs. These songs are all loop based. The percussion loops were programmed one note at a time. The melody loops were usually programmed in real-time using a midi keyboard. I used things like pitch shift, distortion, delays, reverb, phasers and tons of guitar effects on some samples. Many of the sounds are so heavily processed and altered that they completely loose their resemblance to the original sound, while others are used clean and unchanged, just as I recorded them.
